TOXMAP's health data has been updated to cover the years (2009-2013). National county-level cancer and disease mortality data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) can be displayed as layers on the map.

Political boundaries for the U.S. 114th congressional districts reflect the official membership as of January 5, 2016. This map layer can be toggled on and off via the Map Contents side panel.

The TOXMAP beta now includes web-based help. Click "Help" in the header of the TOXMAP web site, or choose the "How to Use TOXMAP" tab in the Help window within TOXMAP itself.

An all-new TOXMAP web site is now available at http://toxmap.nlm.nih.gov. This site links to both the new Flash-based version of TOXMAP (the TOXMAP beta) and to the older version, now called TOXMAP classic.

The new site contains a FAQ, News, Glossary, video tutorials, and more. TOXMAP classic will have a new URL: http://toxmap-classic.nlm.nih.gov.

We encourage you to try the new version of TOXMAP. This FAQ will help you decide which version of TOXMAP to use.

A beta (or pre-release) of a new version of TOXMAP is now available. It provides an improved map appearance and interactive capabilities as well as a more current GIS look-and-feel. This includes seamless panning, immediate update of search results when zooming to a location, two collapsible side panels to maximize map size, and automatic size adjustment after a window resize. The new TOXMAP also has improved U.S. Census layers and availability by Census Tract (2000 and 2010), Canadian National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) data, U.S. commercial nuclear power plants, and improved and updated congressional district boundaries. More features are planned, including some from the original version of TOXMAP that are not currently offered in the new version.

The current version of TOXMAP will be renamed TOXMAP classic and will remain operational (with updated data, but no new features) while the new TOXMAP is in pre-release. In the coming months, a new TOXMAP home page will help users choose between and access the old and new versions.
